1 John 2:15-17

15 Do not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

Our spiritual passion is constantly under attack by distortions of truth that come at us from every side. Two thousand persuasive messages are pressed at us every day. This advent season, we are going to look at six messages or songs that came from the heart of individuals who played important roles surrounding the incarnation of Jesus. These characters were given a special filling of the Holy Spirit so their messages contain no distortions, no embellishments, no ambiguity, just solid truth about the One who brought light to our darkness. Perhaps your inner life has become distorted by the horrific realities around you. Perhaps the decisions you have made have brought consequences that have distorted your vision. You’ve bought the lies and nothing satisfies as promised. Nothing but Christ can fill the soul’s deepest need. Zechariah gives us a message about the fulfillment of the covenant that God would send One who would rescue us from the world and offer us His holiness and righteousness. Praise the Lord, the Redeemer has come. Find a place free from distractions and meditate on your present and your future. Be positive and think how you are going to allow Christ to fill your heart and your life.
