05 Jan Luke 2:34-35
34 And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary His mother, “Behold, this Child is appointed for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and for a sign to be opposed— 35 and a sword will pierce even your own soul—to the end that thoughts from many hearts may be revealed.”
The amazement and excitement of what Simeon said about Jesus did not last long for Mary. She understood that people would hate her son and they would seek to tear him down. She would suffer great pain in watching her son being rejected and executed. I am sure it would be extremely difficult to watch our loved ones be rejected and treated brutally. The reality is we must understand people are sinful. For us to expect them to treat us as we should treat them is naïve, especially if they do not call themselves Christians. Jesus said we would be persecuted which can look many ways in our society. However, we must continue to maintain the love Jesus did and the only way to accomplish this, is through Him alone.
