My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding—
indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.

Do you think that we have arrived at a place in this world where doing enough just to get by is preferred to living an authentic life that has some depth to it? Proverbs 2 helps us understand how to rise above the shallowness of our culture and live a life of depth and character. The conditions of living this kind of life starts with receiving God’s sayings. Study the word; learn what it means and apply it to your daily living. Listen to God’s reproofs and develop an open heart to Him. If you do not already, set aside time each day to converse with God through prayer. And be consistent. It takes diligence and effort to live a life pleasing to the Lord. Doing all of this brings a wonderful result; you will discover the knowledge of God and you can say goodbye to shallowness.
