11 Aug Psalm 30:1-3
30 I will extol You, O Lord, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my enemies rejoice over me. 2 O Lord my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me. 3 O Lord, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit.
Sickness is often a time of sorrow. It can sink our spirits until we become discouraged and, if sickness remains, even depressed. Some sicknesses make us depend on others, cause financial strain and plunge us into a sense of guilt and shame. When healing comes, it brings relief and joy. This Psalm speaks of a time when the writer was close to death. He felt that God was absent. Now, all of that is past and the healing of God has turned his sorrow into joy. He cried out to God and was healed. Have you even been sick to the place of discouragement? It seems the devil is laughing and you feel the darkness of the grave. Our Great Physician healed those who came to Him in faith. Jesus heals those who cry out to Him. (James 5: 14-15)
