03 Feb Romans 15:4-6
4 For whatever was written in earlier times was written for our instruction, so that through perseverance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. 5 Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one another according to Christ Jesus, 6 so that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
We are not called to read the Bible so that we can boast about how much we know or have memorized. Many times, when we read the Old Testament there is confusion of how literal it should be taken. Here, Paul is teaching in Rome that the Old Testament is meant for our instruction, not everything is applicable, especially with the new covenant. His prayer then, is the same of today, that we would be a Bible believing church built on scripture, unity, and harmony.
