26 Jan 1 John 1:1-4

What was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the Word of Life— and the life was manifested, and we have seen and testify and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was manifested to us— what we have seen and heard we proclaim to you also, so that you too may have fellowship with us; and indeed our fellowship is with the Father, and with His Son Jesus Christ. These things we write, so that our joy may be made complete.

We know so many things because we can read God’s word and find truth there. In 1 John, the Apostle John connects this writing with the opening of his gospel. Jesus is the Word of God. He is real, as is our fellowship and our joy, with Him as Lord. We know that the word of life can be experienced by all people. Jesus reveals the Godhead; the experience of God as our Father and the presence of Christ always in us because of His Holy Spirit. We know this because the words He has given us are the vehicle for the revelation of the thoughts and intents of God, just as our words are the revealing of our thoughts and intents. Jesus is God and the Word of God, His revelation to men. When God speaks, we meet Him. By His word He creates, He is known, He judges, and He fulfills. One of the most precious truths God has brought to us is that we have fellowship with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. You see, Jesus is not a secret to decode, but a Person to be known. As we get to know Him, we now begin to share our lives with each other and THAT, my friend is supposed to bring great JOY!
