02 Dec 1 John 5:12; Romans 10:17; Acts 4:12
12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life.
17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.
12 And there is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.”
God the Father sent Jesus His only Son into the darkness to bring light to those lost in their sin. Imagine with me Scene 1 in the Garden of Eden where Satan walks in the shadows. He offers the first woman a “Golden Goblet” that he said was filled with knowledge and wisdom. The liquid in the goblet was enticing, sweet, and she drank the poison. Venom rushed through her, distorting her vision, scarring her skin, twisting her heart. Suddenly, she was lonely. She missed the intimacy, but instead of turning to God, she replenished the goblet and offered it to the man. He drank. God cried. Sin darkened their lives and they became selfish liars to try to cover the ugliness that was in them. So, there walks Jesus into the shadows. In His life, He had many Golden Goblets offered to Him by those in prison trying to kill Him, but He had resisted. “Not now”, He would say. “But at the hour I choose.” The hour came. In a garden with twisted trees and stony ground. “Does it have to be this way?” “It does”. “Is there no one else who can do it?” “None but You.” “Do I have to drink the cup?” “The same cup.” “The darkness will be great; the pain, awful; Is there no other way?” So, He partook. The Living must die, so that the dying can live.
