20 Nov 1 Timothy 6:10

10 For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

This is one of the more popular and well-known verses, although it’s often quoted wrong. Money isn’t a bad thing, but an inappropriate attitude of it can lead to spiritual problems. Harmful desires are condemned, not the possession of things. The warning is not simply that the love of money can be harmful, but that the craving has led some people to deny the faith and show themselves to be unbelievers.
