03 May Colossians 2:20-21
37 And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the great and foremost commandment. 39 The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.”
Man-made religion demands sacrifices, Christianity offers sacrifices. Some of the sacrifices demanded by religion are senseless. We are free from continually gaining acceptance from God. With religion, you waste too much time trying to figure out everything that it demands of you. In Christianity, deity sacrifices for humanity. In our faith heritage, Calvary is in between the poinsettias of Christmas and the lilies of Easter. You cannot have the flowers without the agony. The agony of Jesus, the only begotten Son of God, is the proof of God’s love for the world. What does it mean to you to know that God gave His Son to pay your debt so that you might be a child of God and more than that made righteous by His sacrifice?
