11 Sep Ezekiel 11: 17-21

17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries among which you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”’ 18 When they come there, they will remove all its detestable things and all its abominations from it. 19 And I will give them one heart, and put a new spirit within them. And I will take the heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a heart of flesh, 20 that they may walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they will be My people, and I shall be their God. 21 But as for those whose hearts go after their detestable things and abominations, I will bring their conduct down on their heads,” declares the Lord God.

John 1: 10-13 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. 11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. 12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

We read in the Old Testament that when God chose the nation of Israel to be His people, His presence would come down and dwell in a tabernacle and then in a temple the Israelites built according to instructions God had given them. That glory departed from them, because of their disobedience. Now, in the New Testament, a marvelous thing happened when God sent His glory back to the earth in the Person of His Son, Jesus Christ. Of the four Gospels, John is the one who presents Jesus to the world as the Son of God. It is only through Him that we can have eternal life. Before we can be saved, however, we must understand that we are lost. Do you believe there are many people who are deceiving themselves and living in sin because they just don’t believe they are sinners bound for hell? What could you tell them that would help them come to Jesus?
