15 Mar #HopeWithinMe – What is your ‘One Word’?
Welcome to the fourth post in the #HopeWithinMe campaign! The “One Word” concept comes from a book written by Legacy’s own Dan Britton along with Jimmy Page and Jon Gordon. Check out the “One Word” website at http://getoneword.com.
This radical approach to goal setting shifts us away from long lists of goals to literally one word for the entire year. Even though we are in March, it’s never too late to get your “one word.”
What is Joe’s “One Word”?
This is my fifth year to select a “God word” for the year. In 2012 it was “Higher” based on Colossians 3:1-4. In 2013 it was “Rest” based on Psalms 37:7. In 2014 it was “Overcome” based on James 1:12 and Revelation 2:7. In 2015 it was “Intentional” based on Matthew 5:16 and Colossians 3:17. I can honestly say, just as the book suggests, that focusing on “One Word” will change your life.
If you’re already doing the One Word process, share your word for 2016 and why you selected it. If you don’t have your word, I encourage you to get one. I promise, if you go through the simple process of finding your “God word” your life will be changed for the better.
In 2016 my “one word” is “Shine” based on Numbers 6:24-26 and Matthew 5:16. I selected this word to remind me to allow God to “shine” through me so others may see Him and strive to live for His glory.
It’s easy for you to share a song that speaks to your hope in Jesus. Just follow these steps:
- Prayerfully consider what your “one word” will be for the rest of 2016.
- (optional) Write your one word and take a selfie! (Here are some examples.)
- Post about your ‘one word’ on your social network of choice. Write about why you chose it and what it means to you. Remember to use #HopeWithinMe.
This post is the fourth of five in the “Hope Within Me” series, written by Joe Greenhaw. Posts will be released each Tuesday as Easter Sunday approaches.
