23 Feb #HopeWithinMe – What’s On Your Playlist?
For some, Hope is a place.
For some, Hope is a campaign promise.
For Christ’s followers, Hope is found in Christ alone.
1 Peter 3:15 encourages Christ followers to “sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence.” Though this sounds easy enough, I know I sometimes struggle to put into words the “hope that is in me” when I try to share the Good News of Jesus with those the Lord brings into my life.
In an effort to stimulate some creative ideas for “sharing our hope,” I came up with a list of “conversation starters” that might help us be better prepared to share the hope that Christ alone offers, called #HopeWithinMe. In the coming weeks we will share our “life verse,” a “picture of the person” who most impacted our relationship with Christ, our “One Word,” and my favorite… our “tweet testimony” (our salvation story in 140 characters or less).
We’re excited about the opportunities for you over the next five weeks. Our prayer is that you’ll be able to practice sharing the hope of Jesus with those closest to you… in ways that are personal, creative, easy-to-follow, and not intimidating.
This week’s topic is “What’s On Your Playlist?” Music is a powerful way to communicate truths of God in a universal language. Your job this week is to think of a song that puts into words for you why you hope in Jesus (and his power, provision, love, grace, etc.). Then, we’ll give you instructions to share the song with your friends, along with a few words about why this song communicates “hope” for you.
We’ll give you instructions on how to participate below. But first, I’d like share a song that has impacted my life.
What’s on Joe’s Playlist?
I chose “When Mercy Found Me” by Rhett Walker Band. This song puts words to my testimony and conveys the difference Jesus makes in the lives of surrendered believers… of which I am one.LISTEN NOW
It’s easy for you to share a song that speaks to your hope in Jesus. Just follow these steps:
