25 Sep James 5:13-14
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord;
Sickness may be one of the toughest things to figure out in life. Many times, what we experience is this happening to those who seem to have the greatest influence. Here in this chapter of James, he is talking to a group of believers about prayer in the midst of suffering. He discusses those who may be sick and how the power of the Holy Spirit, the elders, medicine, and prayer could all be useful. The usage of elders here is meaning those wise in their faith, not necessarily in their age. When either us or our loved one’s experience sickness, we must utilize the body of Christ to help us along the way. Do not allow sickness to paralyze you, while you are on earth, sickness is a result of sin, use it in a way to touch someone else’s life and minister to them.
