15 Dec John 1:1-5, 14; Isaiah 9:2, 6-7; Luke 1:46-49
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the Light of men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.
The people who walk in darkness
Will see a great light;
Those who live in a dark land,
The light will shine on them.
For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us;
And the government will rest on His shoulders;
And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.
7 There will be no end to the increase of His government or of peace,
On the throne of David and over his kingdom,
To establish it and to uphold it with justice and righteousness
From then on and forevermore.
The zeal of the Lord of hosts will accomplish this.
Luke 1:46-49 46
And Mary said:“My soul exalts the Lord,
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 “For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave;
For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.
49 “For the Mighty One has done great things for me;
And holy is His name.
When Christ became the Word made flesh, He brought great joy to the world because, He brought the hope of salvation to everyone. Therefore, without Jesus, the Christmas holiday becomes a hollow day. Without Christ, people are living in darkness. The prophet Isaiah said, “The people in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness, a light has dawned”. In a fallen world that is living in fear, there is hope, if they will look to God. Then your outlook changes because of your up-look. Mary started her song by saying her soul glorified the Lord and her spirit rejoiced in God, her Savior. She was a young woman who was pregnant out of wedlock, of very humble means, but her outlook changed when she saw God. Glory comes from seeing God. Once she saw God, she was never the same and when you see Him, you won’t be either. The light Jesus brought came from eternity and it is the only hope for mankind. Isaiah tells us He would be the wonderful Counselor and bring eternal truth. He would be mighty God and dispel the darkness and deal with the plight of fallen man. He would be everlasting Father bringing compassion and giving hope and security. He would be the Prince of peace. There was no Christmas until Christ was born. In the darkest, hopeless world, God gave Christmas. Ours is a God-visited planet. The story is about Emmanuel, God with us. If you claim to have seen the Light and you know the Savior, then how can you live with feeble faith? God has done so much. Change your outlook because God gave you His glory. Look up and give the glory back to Him.
