22 Mar John 6:35, 40, 51; John 10:10b

35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to Me will not hunger, and he who believes in Me will never thirst.

40 For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him will have eternal life, and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”

51 I am the living bread that came down out of heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread also which I will give for the life of the world is My flesh.”

10b have it abundantly.

Here we see one of Jesus’ “I AM” statements: “I AM the bread of life.” With this declaration, Jesus gives an incredible invitation to these people, and to us! Whoever comes to Him, whoever believes in Him, will never hunger or thirst (we must understand He is speaking of eternal things) and shall have eternal life. Jesus offers spiritual nourishment and life forever with Him. By the way, this eternal life that Jesus offers isn’t a “someday” thing that happens when we die and go to heaven, or when He returns; it is abundant life that starts as soon as we believe and place our trust in Him. Our deepest spiritual longings, ultimately to know God and be known by Him, are fulfilled when we believe in Jesus and follow Him.
