07 Jun Jonah 4:10
10 Then the Lord said, “You had compassion on the plant for which you did not work and which you did not cause to grow, which came up overnight and perished overnight.
Jonah saw death as the only way he could get away from God. He wants to get away from a God of mercy, love, compassion, long-suffering, and grace. And, why? Because He showed pity on the wrong people. Jonah wanted to control who God dealt with kindly. The church has been in its holy huddle long enough. I’m calling our next play and it’s called lifestyle evangelism. We are either in mission or we are still a mission field. The church is not the field, the church is a force. You can’t be a force for God if you are exclusive with God’s grace and judgmental about the lost world. If you learn nothing from Jonah, learn this; you cannot run from God and you cannot go anywhere that He is not present. We might as well claim this city for God and make it our mission to take the mercy of God to our neighborhood rather than keep what we know to ourselves and fall asleep in our unholy huddle.
