11 Dec Luke 1:46-49; 1 Peter 3:15; Colossians 4:2-6
46 And Mary said: “My soul exalts the Lord,
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
48 “For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave;
For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.
49 “For the Mighty One has done great things for me;
And holy is His name.
1 Peter 3:15
15 but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;
2 Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving; 3 praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned; 4 that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak. 5 Conduct yourselves with wisdom toward outsiders, making the most of the opportunity. 6 Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person.
There has been a lot of misinformation taught concerning Mary, the mother of the incarnate Jesus. We can see, according to Mary’s own words what God did for her. First, God saved her. You see, Mary was a sinner like all of us and she needed to trust the Lord for her salvation. God chose her to be the mother of the Messiah. She had found favor with the Lord, which is wonderful and she deserves to be appreciated for her faithfulness, but others could have been chosen. Still, He chose her and did great things for her. Because of her faith, she was used to bring the Savior into the world. If we will believe God and yield to His will in our lives, He will do great things through us as well. Sometimes we hear other Christians talk about the wonderful things that happen to them, like having an amazing conversation with someone who happens to sit next to them on their plane trip and wonder why we always get the guy who spreads out over his seat and ours and snores all the way to landing. Maybe it’s because the Lord knows we won’t take the opportunity to share the good news. Be prepared to give an answer for the reason for the hope you have and maybe God will bring something great into your life He wants you to do for Him.
