01 Jul Luke 15:31-32
31 And he said to him, “Son, you have always been with me, and all that is mine is yours. But we had to celebrate and rejoice, for this brother of yours was dead and has begun to live, and was lost and has been found.”
In the story of the prodigal son, we see two brothers. One, took his inheritance and lost everything in sin or immoral living. The older brother was kind of like the Pharisees and scribes. He focused on his own life, and forgot about compassion even towards his little brother! He felt entitled to his father’s favor. Read the words of the father. To the older brother, everything the father had was already his. The reason for the celebration though was that the younger brother had been dead in sin, and was now alive! Did you know God loves us so much that even though we were sinners, He still sent us His own Son, Jesus? Celebrate our Father God, who rejoices when we return to Him!
