13 Dec Luke 1:54-55; Philippians 2:12-15
54 “He has given help to Israel His servant,
In remembrance of His mercy,
55 As He spoke to our fathers,
To Abraham and his descendants forever.”
12 So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling; 13 for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure. 14 Do all things without grumbling or disputing; 15 so that you will prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent, children of God above reproach in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you appear as lights in the world,
No matter how far from His plan the Israelites got, God would always help them fulfill His purposes. God made many promises to His people and He is faithful to keep His word, though sometimes we can get distracted from who we are and what we are supposed to be doing. It is amazing to think that God wants to use His people to accomplish His will on earth, but He does. That is why we are to pray, “Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” By the time Mary returned home from her visit with Elizabeth, she was very much pregnant. People probably began whispering and worse about this young girl who was carrying the Lord of all in her womb. When things get bad, keep on walking, because God is still working in your life and He will bring you through. As the tongues around town started wagging, God came to Joseph and revealed what He was up to. He sent an angel in a dream to tell Joseph exactly what to do and he obeyed. The Holy Spirit was working in this young couple’s lives and He is working in yours. Stay faithful to God and His word and He guarantees you that the Mighty One will do great things for you.
