06 May Matthew 5:11-12
11 “Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me. 12 Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
I read a book years ago that talked about the fact that we all have “balcony people” in our lives. Those are people who sit in the balconies of our lives and while we are struggling to fulfill God’s plan and just get out of here alive, mock us, question us and do everything they can to bring discouragement and failure. Perhaps there are people in your life who just seem to dislike you, or harbor ill will and even hatred toward you. There may even be a family member who has been a thorn in your flesh for years. You have probably determined not to be mean to these people, but to simply pay no attention to them and do your best to keep them out of your life. Then, during your quiet time one morning, you are convicted by the Lord to go to those very people and do everything you can to enlighten them to the love of Jesus and the way of the Lord. You might think; “Is there no one else you can send, Lord? This is not going to go well”. Then, deep inside you think, “I don’t want God to save them”. Be honest, is there anyone in your life that you really do not want to be in heaven with for an hour, much less eternity. If so, my advice to you is; stay away from the ocean and if you see a big fish coming, run!
