24 Jun Psalm 84:1-2, 122:1

How lovely are Your dwelling places,
O Lord of hosts!
My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”

These Songs of Ascent in the Psalms are songs that the Israelites would sing on their way up to Jerusalem to worship God during the major festivals. What is your attitude when you come together with the body of Christ to worship? Do you view going to the “house of the Lord” as a chore or a delight? Do you enter His house with gladness? David rejoiced when he came into God’s house to worship. Let’s follow his example and delight with the Israelites about coming together into God’s house. After all, we are coming into the presence of God Almighty! This week, echo the Psalmist in saying, “my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God” and see if your worship experience doesn’t improve.
