10 Jun Psalm 84:1-2, 122:1

How lovely are Your dwelling places,
O Lord of hosts!
My soul longed and even yearned for the courts of the Lord;
My heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God.

Psalm 122:1
I was glad when they said to me,
“Let us go to the house of the Lord.”

We are starting a new sermon series on the Songs of Ascent from the Psalms. These are songs that the Israelites would sing on their way up to Jerusalem to worship God. What is your attitude like when you come to church? Do you look forward to going to the “house of the Lord” or is it mere religious duty or ritual? Let’s join David in rejoicing upon coming into God’s house to worship. Let’s sing with the Israelites about how lovely God’s dwelling place is! Remember, it’s not about the church building or the worship music or preaching being just right. We are coming into the presence of God Almighty! This week join the Psalmist in saying, “my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God” and see if your worship experience changes.
